Training Contract Scheme

What is the Training Contract Scheme?

ISOLAS LLP has developed an in-depth training contract programme, having been approved by the Supreme Court to be an authorised training establishment in Gibraltar.

We are also an authorised training provider with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), and our trainees are able to undertake their two year period of recognised training in order to qualify as a solicitor in the UK.

As a trainee lawyer at Isolas, you will be working as part of a team of astute professionals, operating in a fast paced, high performance environment. We are committed to investing in our training contract scheme to allow us to develop talented and ambitious individuals, who will grow with our firm and contribute to its ongoing success.

Year 1

Primarily  focuses  on  the admission process to the Gibraltar Bar with the aim of admission at the end of that year. Successful applicants will be required to complete both; The Professional Skills Course  and  The  Professional  Certificate of Competence in Gibraltar Law. Both courses are offered at the University of Gibraltar and will be funded by the firm.

Year 2

Once the trainee lawyer has been admitted in Gibraltar, the trainee will normally work  in the department(s) that they intend to specialise in, in order to further their training and build on the skills and knowledge developed in year one.

Practice Areas:

You will consolidate your skills in Commercial Law,  Litigation, Private Client, and Property Law.

What we look for?

In the first instance, we look for a strong academic background. This includes successful completion of either; the Bar Training Course (BTC), or the Legal Practice Course (LPC) / Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE). We will consider candidates who are currently working towards completion of either course and will successfully complete the course by no later than the 31st of August 2025.

Other qualities we look for include:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • High level attention to detail;
  • Strong team player;
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills;
  • A degree of legal knowledge that is commensurate with your level of experience; and
  • The ability to work in a confidential and professional manner at all times.
