Overview of High Executive Possessing Specialist Skills (HEPSS) Status in Gibraltar.

HEPSS status is a special employment status, governed by the provisions of the High Executive Possessing Specialist Skills Rules 2008, designed to attract talent to Gibraltar and establish residency here.
A HEPSS individual can only be taxed under the Gross Income Based System and shall be charged to tax on the first £160,000 of their assessable income only. Therefore, a HEPSS individual will be subject to an annual tax liability of £39,940, regardless of how much they would earn from that employment.
Requirements for HEPSS:
- Has available for their exclusive use approved residential accommodation in Gibraltar for the whole of the year of assessment;
- Is a non-Gibraltar resident for the three years preceding the application;
- Earns a minimum annual salary of £160,000;
- Possesses skills not available in Gibraltar which are necessary to promote and sustain economic activity of a particular economic value to Gibraltar;
- Must produce a valid passport and full CV; and
- Must produce two independent references from recognised institutions / professionals (1 must be from bank and the other from a law or accounting firm).
A non-refundable application fee of £1,197 is payable on submitting an application.
