Meet The Hon Giovanni 's team

Giovanni graduated from the University of Northumbria at Newcastle with an LLB law degree in 2016 and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2017.

Following his admission to the Bar, he attended the University of Leeds, where he graduated with an LLM Master of Laws in International Banking and Finance Law, attaining the grade of Distinction. He also holds LLM Master of Laws in International Trade Law, graduating with Distinction.

Giovanni also undertook the Gibraltar Professional Skills and Conduct course at both the University of the West of England in Bristol and the University of Gibraltar, where he also undertook the Professional Certificate of Competence in Gibraltar Law.

Giovanni has previously been involved in a wide range of contentious matters and through his training has obtained experience in the areas of commercial, property, private client and gaming.

Giovanni was recently appointed as the youngest Member of Parliament in November 2023. He shadows various government ministries including the Environment, Tourism & Heritage, Youth, and Equality.

 

Giovanni joined ISOLAS in October 2020 and is currently working alongside Partner Steven Caetano as part of his gaming and regulatory practice. Within his gaming and regulatory practice, Giovanni’s expertise particularly focuses on the Responsible Gambling obligations imposed on regulated entities.

Further, in 2021, Giovanni undertook a three-month secondment BV Gaming Limited (formerly known as “BetVictor”) discharging an interim General Counsel function and formed part of their legal team based in Gibraltar. During this time Giovanni worked on all legal aspects of the businesses to further develop his expertise within the gaming sector, which included but was not limited to corporate structuring; intellectual property rights; licensing requirements and pre-action litigation work.

Giovanni regularly advises small and large business start-ups on local licensing requirements and regulatory obligations. Giovanni has developed an expertise in local business licensing and frequently advises in their applications to the Business Licensing Authority at the Office of Fair Trading.

Giovanni is also an appointed independent Disciplinary Inspector to the Gibraltar Football Association and regularly works on sports-related matters, primarily involving football. His experience in sports-related disputes covers an array of areas, from advising clubs on local sporting rules and regulations to representing clients at an international level, having successfully won a case on appeal before the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

More recently, Giovanni has also amassed an experience in advising on insolvency and debt-recovery claims having appeared before the Supreme Court of Gibraltar in relation to corporate insolvency and personal bankruptcy matters.
