The Ambient Project named Young Enterprise’s Company of the Year.

PJI Foundation’s representative Stuart Dalmedo, ISOLAS Senior Associate, presented the prize to the winning team as part of the Young Enterprise Competition 2019 in Gibraltar earlier this week (11 June).

Nine teams made it to the final, with the Ambient Project taking the prize for Company of the Year.

Representing ISOLAS as head judge, Stuart had to review and score the teams across four key areas; the company report, their digital presence, a team interview and a presentation.

As well as looking at the outcomes, including the financial results and the product, the judges had to examine issues resolved, challenges faced, creativity applied, lessons learned and alternatives considered.

The Ambient Group produced a children’s book with a deep environmental message. They will now represent Gibraltar in the UK next week at the Young Enterprise finals.

The scheme is delivered to students across the college and schools in conjunction with the Department of Education. The mission of Young Enterprise is to educate, inspire and empower in the world of commerce through programmes that maximise students’ potential, creativity and innovation.

Stuart said: “I was delighted to present the award to the Ambient Project. It was extremely close as the quality this year was very high, however it was clear that the team had not only taken the competition very seriously but had fun with their company.

“Environmental concerns are so important for our society, so it was great to see our next generation of entrepreneurs tackling this issue by educating others. I have my fingers crossed for the final in the UK next week – but, regardless of the result, they will do Gibraltar proud.”
