Christian Hernandez speaks at Lloyds Maritime Ship Arrest Conference

Christian Hernandez, a Partner at the firm and a Band 1 lawyer for the last 10 years in Chambers Global and Chambers Europe has this week been speaking at the Lloyds Maritime Ship Arrest Conference in London on the background, alternatives and practical considerations for ship arrest.

Christian is known internationally for his Ship Arrest expertise and has been invited to address this conference for a number of years. He gave an address on the advantages and disadvantages of arrest versus other remedies for recovery and spoke about the many advantages of arresting ships in Gibraltar.

Christian noted that “it is important for Gibraltar to be represented in international events of this kind where market leaders from the shipping industry congregate to inform themselves of the options available to those seeking redress. Gibraltar continues to offer one of the most efficient ship arrest procedures anywhere in the world with a focus on efficiency, turnaround and judicial certainty which is second to none. The only port in continental Europe with a common law legal system based on that of England & Wales, Gibraltar should be right at the top of the list of jurisdictions for claimants looking to arrest a vessel in this day and age”.
