The Gibraltar Cycle Club (the GCC) was inaugurated as a formally established sports Club with the Sports & Leisure Authority in May this year. To mark the occasion, the GCC’s membership, together with other cyclists and enthusiasts will be taking part in the GCC’s Inaugural Ride, starting at the Gibraltar frontier and heading to Castellar, Spain.
The GCC’s Inaugural Ride will start at 0900hrs on Sunday 20th July, a date chosen as a mark of respect for Mr Joe Sanchez, a local cyclist who sadly passed away last year.
To coincide with the Club’s inauguration, ISOLAS have proudly taken the role of title sponsor of the Club’s new kit alongside three special local charities: Breast Cancer Support Gibraltar, Prostate Cancer Awareness and the PJ Isola Foundation. Cycling has experienced massive growth both in Gibraltar and internationally, and by participating in this initiative, ISOLAS hopes to contribute to increased awareness of the health benefits of an active lifestyle.
Cyclists in full Club kit will gather outside ISOLAS’ offices situated at Portland House at approximately 0830hrs on Sunday 20th July to provide photo opportunities marking the event. The ride to Castellar commencing at 0900hrs is open to all cyclists, GCC members and non-members alike.
