Prior to joining ISOLAS, Karan trained and qualified into the commercial team of Bird & Bird LLP, a large international firm with particular expertise in the technology sector, where he developed significant experience advising on a wide variety of corporate and commercial matters including the development of large infrastructure projects, mergers & acquisitions, re-organisations, venture capital transactions, public and private procurement, franchising, e-commerce and IT development and implementation contracts.
Since joining ISOLAS, Karan has been heavily involved in the firm’s Fintech practice, having been at the forefront of legal and regulatory developments in this space over the past few years. He regularly contributes to local and international publications on the subject of blockchain and cryptocurrencies, helping position Gibraltar as a leading domicile for businesses operating in this space, as well as supporting Joey Garcia on various thought leadership initiatives across the globe.
Karan advises various banks, e-money institutions and emerging blockchain start-ups on structuring and financing solutions, commercial contracts relating to tech development and integration, licensing and regulatory matters and dealing with corporate governance issues.
Karan is also a key individual of the firm’s wider Funds and Corporate practice areas, working with hedge funds, investment managers, security issuers and fund administrators.
