Mapping the road ahead: financial sector growth in Gibraltar

The Financial Services Commission has experienced significant changes in response to the rapid growth of Gibraltar’s financial sector in the four years leading up to Autumn 2007. The number of insurers, collective investment schemes, and licenses granted for company and trust services has seen substantial increases. Additionally, the Commission has had to implement various EU directives, further shaping the financial landscape. Despite challenges like the collapse of Rock Financial Services and the Traded Endowment Plan issue, the Commission remains committed to working closely with stakeholders to protect Gibraltar’s reputation as a quality finance centre while ensuring regulatory compliance and addressing regulatory failings where necessary.
